Spazio Italiano is a place where the whole family can come together to embrace Italian culture. We offer a stimulating environment with workshops and language classes for children and their parents taught by native Italian speakers. Through our programs and community support Spazio Italiano provides Italian-Americans in San Francisco an opportunity to connect with their traditions and rich heritage. 


We are centrally located in North Beach next to St. Peter and Paul Cathedral.

Spazio Italiano offers Italian language classes in San Francisco for children and their parents. We began five years ago with an afternoon school program for children ages 5-10 years, providing authentic Italian language and culture in a place outside the home or school. Our focus was to provide a space where children could speak and learn Italian in a fun, safe and stimulating environment. The children were engaged through language based learning activities and materials. Academic instruction took place in a context that valued the children’s natural playful tendencies and that appeals to the satisfaction they feel upon mastery of a new or difficult skill.


We realized that in order to provide a more consistent program, we needed to create a path that children could begin and end in one place. Now, we currently offer a morning program for infant/toddlers with their parents or caregivers and preschoolers. Afternoon workshops and academic programs are available for children 5-13 years of age. Finally, adult classes are provided for parents learning Italian along with their children.


Our goal is to create a strong long lasting community of families engaged in Italian language and culture!
